The Georgie Campbell Foundation has been created to support the sport Georgie loved.

It aims to:

  • Improve rider and horse safety by supporting the roll out of frangible devices that reduce the risk of rotational falls
  • Provide riders with support to establish and run early-stage eventing businesses through the provision of mentoring, educational training, and bursary support in areas including financial management, and attracting and retaining owners and sponsors

"Working in the equestrian world isn’t easy, but Georgie would navigate this by throwing so much joy and love at every situation. She would get as much joy from having a Greggs tea on the way home from the gallops as she would teaching a client in the pouring rain or jumping around the biggest courses in the world. It was just incredible to be at her side and feel this energy."

- Jesse Campbell, Georgie’s husband and New Zealand Olympic event rider

5* event rider Georgie Campbell (née Strang) was fun, optimistic, kind, bubbly, joyful, mischievous, loving, with the most generous laugh and beautiful energy. She was a multi-talented sportswoman, lit up every room, and loved her horses with all her heart.

Tragically Georgie died doing what she loved in a rotational fall at Bicton International Horse Trials on 26 May 2024 at the age of 36.

The Georgie Campbell Foundation has been set up by a collection of people who love and miss Georgie in her memory.

Safety

The Foundation will support and progress cross country safety, specifically frangibles, to reduce the number of other families that must endure the pain of losing a loved one in a rotational fall.

We are currently navigating the complexities of eventing’s global and national governing bodies to explore how we can best support the next generation of frangibles and have outlined our areas of focus, guiding principles, and ways you can support.

"Always gracious, thankful, and fun, but incredibly hardworking and so, so, very talented. Georgie was a joy to teach. It was very evident she adored her horses and between them I felt they had the attributes to go to the very top of the sport she so loved."
